On the way to the Shiva temple. Junagadh













They were coming by feet from Himachal Pradesh, owners of nothing. We started together , but I was often stopping for shoting, everytime when I joined them again they said "how can you be so fast! We finally climb together. The problem is that you have to climb and climb to the top and you finally discover that you have to go down and up again to reach this temple (you see it on top of the hill).very friendly and intelligent people.

Rice is used to do svastikas and other signs on the ghat. Dwarka is a little varanasi, dedicated to Krishna, but on the sea shore,it gives really a different mood.

Tribute to gandhi. Jamnagar














Mahatma Gandin have been murdered a 30 th of January. Just have a think to him, even if we don't agree with all what he have done or thought; he will remain as a great man.
In Gujarat, people have a real dovotion for him, and it's not rare to find a Gandhi representation in the streets.

Crazy sun. Bhuj














Carving marble for a new temple ( the first one have been destroyed by the earthquake in 2001). Not easy with a crazy sun which makes the white marble terrific for the eyes. Not easy for photos too.
The builder is Swaminarayam, one of the most influent and rich sect in this country.

Sewing saris. Patan














Patan is famous according to his "patola" sari. Beautiful, but also very expensive. In the small city, women sew in the old wooden houses.
